Reviews:

This was a fun read. The dragon twist was an interesting one. There’s mystery, adventure, fantasy and humor. Ella has a great personality and her “one liners” consistently caught me off guard and made me laugh out loud. Definitely worth the read and I would recommend it to both young and not so young. – Kay Curtiss

Leila Gaskin combines modern inventions with the old-world charm of dragons to create an Otherverse that is unlike any fantasy world I’ve ever read. Cars and buildings and computers co-mingle with taverns and ale and farmers to form a land that offers continuous surprises to the reader. Ella is an enjoyable underdog who gains courage and strength throughout the story. Nathan, Talek, Tmave Jeden, the Socra, Behte, Myrna, Ronan, Kaie, Sindie, Annisa and the rest of Gaskin’s characters are well-developed and add extra dimension to this epic story of two worlds in danger. A lighter, more modern take of The Lord Of The Rings, Hot Flashes will definitely appeal to all of you fantasy readers out there!!  — Mommasez

DRAGONS! Dragons with sci-fi inter planetary travel…what isn’t to love???? This book had me hooked, I know I say that about a lot of books, but really it is pretty easy to get me hooked on a book (not that that is a bad thing! Mostly its just that I know what to pick for myself!)….I liked the way that Hot Flashes encompassed more than one genre, that of Sci-Fi and fantasy (though I will be categorizing it as Fantasy to make it easier!). Some mash ups of genres don’t mesh well, but this one did! The way that the worlds were woven together, and the story told, made it magical, with a bit of space travel thrown in of course!  – Trips Down Imagination Road
