I’m sitting on top of a mountain

I’m sitting on top of a mountain of self-imposed deadlines, goals, and impossible expectations. My face tilted up to the sky, sipping on all that vitamin D from the sunshine. No handrails or guidelines, the ground beneath me is shifty. The thunderous beat of my heartbeat echoes from summit to summit. Running full-out until I hit a boundary, I don’t know any other way of living. Threats of failure add thrills, success ecstasy. I catch air as I leap into the unknown.
