Infinite Opportunities

While against the backdrop of infinite creation we may appear to be nothing, we have a spark of eternal fire burning within our breast. We have the incomprehensible promise of exaltation—worlds without end—within our grasp. And it is God’s great desire to help us reach it. —Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Creativity is a the method by which we understand our mortal coil. We write for a greater understanding of our own worth.  Every story we tell seeks clarity of our psyche, our thoughts,  and our purpose, affording ourselves a freedom of truth.

Before anyone thinks I’m going to get particularly religious,  that is not my purpose.  Here are my simple core belief, I believe that the human race is capable of astounding  feats of accomplishments driven by our choices. Yet, we can not learn about our infinite opportunities without understanding the depths of tragedy.

All great stories have a rhythm by which the consequences of choices are revealed. How good intentions lead our heroes down the merry path of destruction.  Or, how heroic acts can come from the lost,  giving hope for redemption.  Myths are made of such story telling.

I may have a tendency to write about destruction,  but in each story is a kernel of choice where my characters will be defined. Showing their intention through those decisions.  Enduring stories make the reader ask questions about their world.
In life, we can not experience joy without understanding its opposite.  In the act of storytelling, it is the same.  We can not understand our characters without seeing both sides of the coin, giving us endless opportunities to create.

  • Writing really allows us to explore things beyond our realm, which in turn really does help us understand the things around us. Fiction is like a little window into the bare bones truth about life. 🙂

    • ‘the bare bones truth about life’ Perfectly said. Truth puts the passion in our stories.
