Live it, Be it, Write it

If writers stopped writing about what happened to them, then there would be a lot of empty pages.

Elaine Liner, We Got Naked, Now What, SXSW 2006

I’ve found, in my writing journey, that I have to make sure that I have an impervious skin.  My inspiration comes from what I see, experience and live.  Somewhere in all of this, I’m really going to piss someone off.

Do I want to aggravate people?  No, not really.

But, my being a writer comes to no surprise to people who know me.  I take my inspiration from my experiences, my observations, and any other place I can get them.  I do my best to protect the identities of the guilty, but I’m not going to stop my writing.

I think Shakespeare summed it up pretty succinctly.

To thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man.

William Shakespeare

There is never an easy resolution. I choose my truth in the face of other’s outrage.

  • Well said! 😉

    • Thanks!

  • I think this is why I feel you are a kindred blogger…Robin

    • Thank you! I love your site and learning about your journey.

  • I envy you. I’m too much the introvert and thin skinned to write any thing of consequence.

    • I completely understand. Sometimes the anonymity of the web can make people careless. I try to live the golden rule. I still care enough to not go out of my way to hurt anyone. The old adage holds true in the Blogosphere – you can please some of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.

I’ve been exploring your blog and enjoying it. Just keep doing what you love doing, the rest will come.
