NaNoWriMo

For those who don’t know, NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is looming over us.  It starts November 1st at 12am and ends November 30th at 11:59pm.  I have participated in this madness since 2003, some years I make the 50,000 word count. Others? Not so much.

The point is to write.  Get what has been noodling in your head out so you can then create the story you want.

My current project came from a NaNoWriMo experience.

I’m in a bit of a dilemma, I have a story planned out to work on, but find myself deep in tweaks for my current manuscript.  (Mmmm, I wonder if I can count it?)

What has been your experience?  Are you up for the challenge?  Are you panster or a planner?

Inquiring minds want to know!

  • Planner to the core when it comes to writing. Every year I think it might be fun to to try NaNoWriMo, but I know myself too well. There is just no way to could do an entire novel in a month and be satisfied with what I’ve written. But I have so much admiration for people who can do it. 🙂

    • I usually come out with a decent 1st draft. I concentrate on a brain dump. Then I can go back and fix things when the word count is done. 🙂 Editing is my friend.

  • I did nano twice and absolutely loved it! My screen name is: Im-A-Writing-Machine. I guess I’m more of a planner. Only in the sense that I know what I’m writing about, maybe a few pivotal things that’s “bound” to happen and, lastly, how it will end.

This year I will be a nano rebel. I started a novel last year and never completed it because of my addiction to screenwriting (yup… did scriptfrenzy too!). So, this year I will be finishing last year’s novel.

What’s your screen name? Want to buddy up?

    • My screen name is ‘cre8vekaos’. I’d love to ping back and forth.

I think that getting ourselves writing is the purpose, so if you are working on a current project? I’ll never tell. 🙂

  • I’m participating for the very first time! I’m so excited! and I’m a planner 🙂 when it comes to writing planning is very important to me or else I’ll just meet a dead end in the middle of my story…
    Good Luck!

    • I think you’ll have a great time. Having and idea/plan going in is absolutely important. I usually try to condense my writing down into 26 days, because of the US Thanksgiving Holiday. For some reason my family wants me to participate, I can’t imagine why. :p

  • Hi there! I’m so excited but definitely not a planner! So not sure at all how it will go. Nervous but really really excited.

    Let’s have fun together, yaye!

    • The key is to turn of your inner censor and be free. I know that it is easier said than done, but so worth it.

      Thanks for stopping by.
