As a author, just the act of writing is not enough. I am an artist and a business person. Before anyone says that is a paradox that will destroy the universe, I say wrong.
Any of the successful names you see on the bookstore shelves – brick and mortar or electronic – have a business behind them. The author is the soft gooey creative center of that business. The creation of the product is one thing. Then the fun begins. Marketing, Promotion, you name it, you do it to sell your book.
P.T Barnum said:
Whatever you do, do it with all your might. Work at it, early and late, in season and out of season, not leaving a stone unturned, and never deferring for a single hour that which can be done just as well now.
I have to be just as good at the business side of things as I am at my storycraft. I can not sit back and pray that fortune will shine upon me.
Fortune is a fickle bitch. I have to hunt her down, capture her and make her give me what I want.
I want to be successful.
Fortune I coming, don’t make me chase you.
